Tony Bartelme is an investigative reporter for The Post and Courier in Charleston, South Carolina, with an extensive background in environmental and health issues. His series about Dr. Dilan Ellegala entitled “One Brain at a Time” was a finalist for a 2011 Pulitzer Prize in Feature Writing. He was a 2011 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, where he researched global health issues. He is co-author of two books, "The Bridge Builders" and "Into the Wind," and wrote the screenplay for an award-winning documentary on the 1998-1999 Around Alone global sailing race. Bartelme’s stories have spawned state and federal probes and triggered major changes in South Carolina. He lives with his 14-year-old son in Charleston.
