SPOT NEWS PHOTOGRAPHY - This photograph by John McConnico of the Associated Press shows U.S. Ambassador to Kenya Prudence Bushnell, her injured hands bandaged, reacting after laying a wreath at the site of the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi. The photograph, published August 12, 1998, is one of a collection of images by Associated Press Photo Staff following the embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania that illustrates both the horror and the humanity triggered by the event, that won the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography, awarded by Columbia University on the recommendation of the Pulitzer Prize Board.
