
The 2017 Pulitzer Prize winners
On a drizzly May Monday, the 2017 Pulitzer Prize winners found shelter under Low Library's rotunda at Columbia University in New York City.

Following a cocktail reception, winners, board members, university staff and guests took their seats for luncheon and the presentation of awards.
Pulitzer Prize Administrator Mike Pride opened the festivities with a welcome, and introduced 2009 Commentary winner and current Pulitzer board chair Eugene Robinson to address the room.

Robinson harkened back to British economist John Maynard Keynes as he delivered thoughts on the current and future states of American journalism — saying its "animal spirits" are alive and well.

Two past Pulitzer administrators were in attendance in addition to Pride, Sig Gissler and Seymour Topping.
Current and former board members in attendance in addition to Robinson included Louis Boccardi, Gail Collins, Steve Coll, Stephen Engelberg, Paul Gigot, Ann Marie Lipinski, Mindy Marques and Keven Ann Willey.
