On September 13, newly minted U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith read from multiple volumes of her poetry, including the 2012 Pulitzer-winning "Life on Mars," as part of her inaugural reading at the Library of Congress.
Following an introduction by the 14th Librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden, and a word from the first Youth Poet Laureat, Amanda SC Gorman, Smith begins speaking at 21:31.
"It's not just a dream, this is real, this is really happening!" Smith says with characteristic generosity and enthusiasm in thanking the Library staff for making the evening possible.
